February Prayer & Fasting Day 7

Have you ever noticed your phone doesn’t show you random things? My phone doesn’t suddenly show me the hundred-year history of stamp collecting. No — your phone shows you what you’ve been feeding on.

You watch one cooking video, one gym workout, or one video of a sheep being shorn, and suddenly your feed is filled with more of the same. The algorithm recognises what you focus on and keeps feeding it back to you.

We are in a season of 21 days of prayer and fasting, and on day seven our scripture says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Notice that desire follows delight.

This doesn’t mean God gives us whatever we want. It means when you delight yourself in God, your desires begin to line up with His will for your life — and His will is always better than ours.

A season of prayer and fasting is a great time to reflect: what have I been feeding on? Not just physically, as we push the plate away, but spiritually. God may show you areas where you’ve been feeding your heart and mind in the wrong places.

Your feed determines your focus.

When you fast and pray, the Word of God becomes your source, just as it was for Jesus when He fasted in the wilderness. The psalm said, “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”

In other words, what you feed on shapes what you focus on.

God bless you on day seven.
