February Prayer & Fasting Day 13

Hey, have you ever met someone who knows a lot of things but doesn’t seem very wise?

That’s because knowledge is knowing information, but wisdom is knowing what to do with that information.

We are on day 13 of our 21 days of prayer and fasting here at Perth Hills Church, and today’s devotion is all about walking in wisdom.

When we pray and fast, we’re not just denying ourselves things. We’re pressing into God’s presence — and in His presence is His wisdom.

In the Old Testament, Solomon was given the opportunity to ask God for anything. He didn’t ask for fame or fortune — he asked for wisdom. Why? Because when you have wisdom, everything else can follow. When you learn to think the way God thinks, you can step into the things God has for you.

James says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously.” God loves to give wisdom.

Knowledge is knowing something. Wisdom is applying what you know.

As Charles Spurgeon once said, “Wisdom is the right use of knowledge.”

Many people know about God, but don’t actually know Him personally. They have information about God, but Jesus calls us into relationship, not religion.

So what does applying wisdom look like? It begins with recognizing this truth: we are sinners in need of saving. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” None of us are righteous on our own.

Good people don’t go to heaven — forgiven people do. We all need a Saviour, and the greatest starting place of wisdom is receiving Jesus.

God bless you on day 13 of prayer and fasting.
