Good morning.
My name is Brad. I’m the shearing pastor, and on my YouTube channel I would normally be sharing shearing clips and spiritual tips. But our church, Perth Hills Church, is in a season of 21 days of prayer and fasting, and we’re up to day three. So today I want to share the devotional from our booklet titled A Life of Surrender.
Have you ever noticed how powerful body language is?
Someone doesn’t need to use words for you to see they’re angry, sad, or bored. You can tell by their body language.
In Romans 12:1, the Apostle Paul writes to the church in Rome and says, “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice to God. This is your spiritual act of worship.” Notice Paul doesn’t say offer your thoughts or your intentions to God — he says offer your bodies.
There is something powerful in prayer and fasting when we offer our bodies to God as a living sacrifice, even just for a season. It becomes our body language toward God.
Our body language says, “God, I trust You. God, I need You. God, I depend on You. God, I rely on You.”
Fasting and prayer is the body language of a life that is reliant on God. It is a posture of humility.
Scripture tells us that God resists the proud but lifts up the humble. As we humble ourselves before God in prayer and fasting this February, I believe we will see His hand upon our lives all year long as we seek Him first.
God bless you.
